Sidney Sheldon

Sidney Sheldon got started in movies and TV. He brought that high drama to the books he wrote. His TV creations consist of I Dream Of Jeanie, Hart to Hart and The Patty Duke Show. But if you have already heard of Sidney Sheldon it is most likely because of his books.

Sidney was born in 1917. By the time he was twenty he decided to move to California to break into show business. In 1937 he worked as a script reviewer. After WWII, where he served in the Army, he moved to NY to write Broadway Plays.

While writing hits for Broadway he continued to work for Hollywood. In 1948 he won an Academy Award for best original screenplay for the Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer. The movie stared Cary Grant and Myrna Loy. He started writing in 1969. His first book was The Naked Face.

Many of his books made the New York Time best seller list. A few debuted at number one. If you love books with high drama, suspense and always a love story you will adore Sidney Sheldon. The writer died in 2007.
